I started my career as a writer/PR professional at an electric cooperative, writing our co-op's section of the North Dakota Living Magazine, known then as the REC Magazine. The first feature article I wrote about how crews patrol power lines received recognition in the annual communications contest. Eventually, I went on to receive local, regional and national recognition for articles I wrote and communications pieces I created in the co-op world and in the other industries I've served.

Now that I have shifted gears in my career to draw more on my artistic side, I am grateful that the editors at ND Living found my story interesting enough to feature. I am hopeful that this article serves as an inspiration to others who are searching for/thinking about their next steps. My advice is, "Go for it!"
