The Inspiration for:
North Dakota Sings
The Bismarck-Mandan Civic Chorus sings "North Dakota Prairies," composed and directed by Dr. Tom Porter. This painting was inspired by the BMCC's Spring 2019 concert and the North Dakota landscape. Several pieces of the music the choir sang in this year's concert are embedded in the painting. The artist sings in this choir and was part of a group that sang this piece in Carnegie Hall. The Civic Chorus recently celebrated its 40th anniversary. It performs at three events per year: a Christmas concert, a Valentine's dinner showcase, and a spring concert. This September, it will also present an opera program.
